1886 $5.00 Morgan Silver Dollar Back
Morgan Silver Dollar Back

1886 $5.00 Silver Certificate
Very Fine Friedberg Number 261 Serial Number B15102806 This Morgan Silver Dollar Back is original in every way.  The inking remains bold and the paper quality is excellent for the grade.  Only a couple paper bends hold this note from perhaps a higher grade.  Please notice the detail remaining on the large red Treasury Seal.   That is only one of the features that make this note so collectable.  The Morgan Silver Dollars on the reverse are very eye catching and remain detailed, especially for a mid grade note.  Offered at $3,650.00

1886 $5.00 Silver Certificate  Fine Friedberg Number 262 Serial Number B23603021 At first glance you think this is a strong Very Fine note.  Close inspection will show excellent detail remaining, however there are 4 or 5 paper cuts into the body of the note.  The large spike Treasury Seal shows some handling however retains more detail than a lot of  VF's.  The reverse highlights the Morgan Silver Dollars and really draw you into the note.  When in a plastic sleeve one hardly notices the paper cuts that are mentioned.  This is an excellent example for the money.  Offered at $1,175.00

1886 $5.00 Silver Certificate Very Fine Friedberg Number 263 Serial Number B25575330 This Large Brown Spike Treasury Seal Morgan Silver Dollar Back has that eye catching look that make this series so special.  The paper quality is evident and the inking holds the color very nicely.  The Large Brown Seal on this series has always been of my favorite.  I must mention two or three tiny pinholes that are visible with a strong light and a professional repaired split about 1/16th of an inch in the bottom margin and a tiny repair in the top margin.  These repairs are only noticeable to the expert eye and don't detract from the exceptional eye appeal of the note. This is a hard to find Friedberg Number and all in all, a very nice Investment Grade note.  Sold

1896 $5.00 Silver Certificate Very Fine Friedberg Number 269 Bruce/Roberts Serial Number 18078577 This is a very nice looking Educational note.  This is the third and last of the Education Series.  Allegorical group showing electricity as the dominant force in the world.  Heads of Ulysses S. Grant and Philip Sheridan, Union Army generals during the Civil War.  This example has large gem type margins and dark black inking that really shows off the detail.  Clean paper surfaces with only a trace of handling.  The red Treasury is bolder and brighter than the grade would indicate.  Nice note with a couple of minor paper bends.  Offered at $3,250.00

1896 $5.00 Silver Certificate Fine Friedberg Number 270 Serial Number 33124019 This is a very handsome Educational note.  The $5 is considered the most beautiful note ever printed by the Federal Government by many collectors.  You will find lots of detail remaining on this mid-grade example.  Although circulated, the edges remain strong as well as the corner tips.  The surfaces are clean with only a trace of handling.  The reverse shows strong deep Kelly Green inking as many mid grade examples look washed out.  Put this beauty back as it is sure to climb in value.  Offered at $1,595.00

1896 $5.00 Silver Certificate Strong Fine/Very Fine Friedberg Number 270 Serial Number 33408728 This is by far the scarcest of the three signature combinations for $5 Educational.  Also, the large bottom margin tells us from a distance that this crispy note carries a D plate letter.  Exceptional color on this collectable Educational that has the look and feel of a special Investment Grade Note.  Hard to find a better example at this price.  Sorry, SOLD
